Bring Mind and Body Together with Meditation Music
Activities such as yoga, meditation, partner massage and listening to new age music all have one benefit in common: they help to improve the mind-body connection. When the mind and body are brought into sync with one another, a great many things happen. For one, the communication within the body flow smoothly. Energies do not become stuck in the body. Making a connection between the body and mind also involves making a connection with the subconscious and higher self as well, all of which work together to create optimum health in the body. After all, the body can heal itself if we simply open the channels for it to tell us how we need to change in order to heal. People take all different sorts of paths to reach their bodies. For some, the simple acting of being still can be enough for them to be able to tap into their bodies. There are some for whom simply listening to new age music is enough to allow them to relax into themselves, feeling the effect that the music has on them, both in their body and their mind. Music will take you on a journey if you allow it to, and that can be one of self awareness and discovery if you are willing to let it be. Of course, the use of new age music certainly is not limited to simply sitting back casually and listening to to it. Yoga music, for example, is very clearly designed to help facilitate movement in the body and focus in the mind. Breathing is a large part of yoga, the inhale and exhale of life energy in the body, the lifting and settling of the body all falls into a pattern along with the breath. Music can guide the breath, help the practitioner to keep time, to keep moving. For many, it can be very motivational to have such music playing. The music might seem to carry them through their practice, keeping them going when it seems that cannot go any further. I guess you could even think of it as a strange form of coaching. This encouragement can be the difference between giving up early and keeping going all the way through a solo practice. Another similar example is in meditation music. Many use meditation music both in group and solo practice. In some instances, actually following the music through its journey might be the point; in others, it is used more as a background setting for the meditation. Many experience a bit of wandering in meditation, despite their best efforts. Thoughts seem to reappear despite having been told to go away and things yet to be done pop up in bright colors. Having a calming meditative sound to focus on can help redirect a person's meditation without involving the judgment of the ego. Regardless of how such balance is found, the important thing is that it is found, and the mind-body connection made.
